The Mystic Death Card in Tarot Reading
The tarot card of Death is the most feared from all tarot cards. However, if you are only getting prepared for your first tarot card reading, you should know that a tarot card does not necessarily literally stand for what it symbolizes. For example the wheel of fortune card might signify that a poor person will suddenly become rich, but it can also signify that a wealthy person is at danger of loosing everything. This is why it called a “wheel”, because it turns and it can signify plenty of possibilities both in the good and the bad direction.
Back to the tarot card of “Death”. The card basically represents a skeleton that is on horseback, and there are plenty of other side characters depicted on the card such as a child, a bishop, a king, and a maiden. Each of them signifies something else. In your your first tarot card reading for example, the child stands for curiosity, the maiden represents sorrow that one feels when death occurs, and the bishop stands there as a positive force symbolizing the faith one has in front of death.
Here are the main symbolic interpretations of the card of death:
- Sadness
- Loss of a dear one
- A transformation from a psychological point of view (falling into depression for example)
- Death can also mean “rebirth”- the death of all past bad things, after which rejuvenation/ rebirth occurs
- Saying good-bye to someone
If you know a few basic things about the tarot cards, you will always know what to expect from a tarot reading, and you will also be able to see through things much better.
